Music is interpreted and reinterpreted thousands of times - and in that way, it feels endless.
“Sem Fim” (the Portuguese translation of "endless") will feature music by major icons of Brazilian and American traditions. It is in progress and I'm looking forward to when I can share it with the world.
This is a huge project that I am undertaking with co-producers and musicians featured on the album, Vítor Gonçalves (piano/accordion) and Eduardo Belo (double bass). We are joined by Vinícius Gomes (guitar) and Dennis Bulhões (drums), along with Toomai String Quintet, Lívio Almeida (saxophone), Katrina Owens (flute), Bill Owens (trumpet), and Alaina Alster (trombone).
I'm very happy to share that the album will include the first recording of “Endless and Blind” by composer Daniel Freiberg with lyrics by Steven Sater. Long inspired by their work, we will highlight music by two early female icons of Brazilian Choro, Chiquinha Gonzaga and Tia Amélia with amazing arrangements done by current masters of the genre.
Until we are finished, I hope you will enjoy the beautiful cover art by Rita de Souza and a tiny sneak peek of “Vide Vida Marvada” and “Clarinete Dengoso” recorded and mixed by Brandie Lane at Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY.
